Paul Avila’s son, Pauly, was born blind and autistic and found peace in the sound of music. From an early age, that love for music became a bridge to connect with others.
As a young boy, Pauly would accompany his father, Paul, into downtown Los Angeles to deliver meals, clothing, and kindness to those in difficult circumstances on Skid Row. Remembering the joy of giving, Paul made it his mission to bring hope, comfort, and dignity to people often overlooked.
Inspired by Pauly’s reaction to music, Paul began purchasing radio headsets to hand out during outreach. These headsets offered not just entertainment, but a sense of connection to the outside world. As word spread, more resources and donations came in, allowing Paul to expand his efforts to include hygiene kits, clothing, and essential supplies.
Over the years, Pauly’s Project has grown from a small act of compassion in Los Angeles to a movement serving communities across Southern California. Today, our work includes monthly outreach, workforce development connections, autism awareness events, job fairs, and music programs that inspire and uplift — all rooted in Paul’s original vision.
At the heart of Pauly’s Project is a commitment to uplifting individuals and families facing housing instability and vulnerable living conditions. If you’d like to join us in making a difference, your donation helps us continue providing essentials, opportunities, and hope.
Our core mission is to improve the lives of individuals and families facing housing instability and vulnerable living conditions through our street outreach program, which has grown and evolved over the years.
